Does sshfs allow for passing the password via an environment variable? If so, that should be sufficient and more secure than using a command line option. If not, that feature could be worthwhile to implement. There are other network filesystems (smbfs and cifs come to mind) that allow for the password to be passed as part of the mount options. I expected sshfs to support this too. I now know that it was a decision _not_ to support this feature, so I'll make the modification for myself in the code, and maybe I'll post it to the list in case somebody else finds it useful.
