Hi, I have been trying to understand/learn FUSE recently and may consider writting a new filesystem using FUSE. However, before starting that, I wanted to evaluate FUSE on the following points: 1) Performance - How much impact is there on the performance if a filesystem is implemented using FUSE compared to a filesystem written in kernel ? I can understand that FUSE implementation will be slow, but I want to know if there is any ballpark figures available... As an example, say if I want to write an NFS client using FUSE, how will it fare compared to existing kernel based client ? 2) Limitations - Is there any other limitation in implementing any feature as compared to kernel based filesystem? -Niraj |
