Today they finally delivered my copy of Pro Android games. I have not yet read every line (still busy setting up my new machine), but the following was encouraging: The author shows how to set up the OpenGL context in Java and then all the actual opengl is done in C apart from the buffer switch He shows the techniques required to glue two non-trivial C applications (namely Wolfenstein 3D and Doom) to a Java front-end by breaking the original into four primary pieces: Java initialisation, event loop and IO Java glue layer (Java Native interfaces) C glue layer Original C code, repackaged as a library (and in turn only dependent on OpenGL-ES) The main problem I forsee is the lack of libraries we have grown dependent on. More contemplation required. Dave |
