#340 White Squares Text & No Splash Image

v0.3.8, when I launch the application I see the start screen like on a screenshot attached.
I am running WinXP SP2 on a 128Mb Radeon 9600 Pro machine, MS-supplied drivers 6.14.10.6462 23.03.2004.

Have you tried rebooting? Issues like this sometimes come and go. It might also help to update your video drivers.

This appears similar to [ 1638214 ] Text goes white squares:

except now the splash screen image isn't being displayed as well.

The "MS supplied drivers" sounds like a possible source of problems. Try updating your video drivers. Also, have you seen this happen with any other version(s) of FreeOrion?

Since the OP is nonresponsive and I know this is simply due to a hosed hardware/driver combo, I'm closing this one.
