Yep - the licensing arrangements for the original GLUT would
make re-using it in the way you want illegal.

Since freeglut uses the Xfree license, you should have
no problems.

This sometimes happens when you download a .tar.gz file using Internet
Explorer.  I don't know the details (because I don't use Windoze) but
I've heard enough people talking about it.

It seems that under some circumstances, IE will automatically
'gunzip' a file with the '.gz' extension - but because of some
kind of a bug, it doesn't remove the '.gz' when there are TWO
extensions on the filename (ie .tar and .gz).  Hence, you end
up with something that *should* be called 'something.tar' because
it's no longer gzipped - but which is actually called 'something.tar.gz'.

That confuses the heck out of WinZip.

So, either:

  1) Re-download the file - having somehow turned off the
     automatic gunzipping thingy.

...or...

  2) Rename the '.tar.gz' file to be just '.tar' and try
     WinZip again.

If you don't get it from the release tarball, you have to fetch it
from CVS.  Instructions for doing that from within Windoze can be
found on the main SourceForge site (http://www.sf.net)
