Indeed I dislike SF's policies as described in that article, yet they are policies which do not affect us as we're not releasing binaries and/or installers. So, unless we want to make a statement by leaving SF on principle, I don't think they should factor much in the decision on wether to move to github or not. > It's a popup blocker addon for browsers. According to stats available (see Wikipedia for uBlock > Origin which has sources), the Chrome version has 2.4 million users and > Firfox has 650 thousand users. So in theory, there are ~3 million users who, > assuming they are up-to-date, won't be able to open FreeGLUT's webpage or SF > page. I fail to see how that's our problem. The user who installed such an addon, knows about it and presumably can whitelist a site they want to visit which is arbitrarilly blocked by that addon, or at the very least temporarilly disable it to access the site. If we're talking about potentially leading people to doubt our trustworthiness as a project because we get collateraly blocked by some browser addon, I think that's far fetched. And again, just to be clear: I'm not saying we shouldn't move to github; I'm very mildly in favor of that move. I'm just saying these aren't particularly strong reasons to change our previous decision about it. -- John Tsiombikas http://nuclear.mutantstargoat.com/ |
