I've heard some talk about Phoenix, is that decent? I've always liked using KMail in Fluxbox (assuming you may have KDE installed on your machine {?}). As for browsers, I'm using Phoenix 0.5 (what happened to 0.6?!...anyone?) and I really like it as a less-bloated alternative to the main Mozilla browser.
