There are those of us chatting in the forum that hope to wish to bring attention to Bug Report 1737 regarding fixing the aircraft catalog.
Will this be a URL that we ourselves as users ADD to the "Aircraft Hangar Location" box of the "Configure Add-ons" page of the Qt5 Launcher?
If this is the case then is there a catalog location hangar url ready to test before the feature freeze?
Correct, it will be a URL (or several, because the idea is anyone can maintain their own hangar according to whatever policies they wish)
I’m working on the scripts (in fgmeta) to create a hangar from FGAddon, but it’s rather a large test case. I have asked several times for aircraft developers with a small hangar (1-10 aircraft) to come forward to help beta-test but so far I didn’t get any responses.
It’s also worth pointing out, the catalog / hangar format is designed to be simple enough you could maintain it by hand if you wanted: it’s ‘just’ an XML file and a set of aircraft zips on a webserver. But obviously for something like FGAddon it would be crazy to maintain the XML file by hand.
I fully expect some people will ignore my scripts in fgmeta and write their own scripts to generate the catalog and zips however works best for them.
Kind regards,
James
