I posted some suggestions to flex-devel, but the list activity is so low that I decided to mention it here. Flex seems to be in need of some maintenance. Flex itself says that the C++ feature is a mess. We also need good examples. It could use some improvement in working with Bison's newer features. There is also still an active Flex mail list on www.gnu.org that a few people have still tried to post to. I did some experimental editing of the flex skeleton file. My goal was to organize the code such that all of the exported header stuff is in one place. It makes the skeleton file much cleaner. Right now, it seems to be suffering from a long series of edits without any efforts to reorganize it. A better organized skeleton file should also help to improve the C++ interface. With the last Flex release being not too long ago, I assume there must still be some development progress. How much interest is there in improving Flex? Joe Krahn |
