Helen, You're wrong! I know for a fact that v4.2 thru v5.6 installed an auto-start link to start IBServer. The Interbase Configuration Tool controls the settings for the initial startup (on boot/Windows startup, manual and disabled) as well as the IBGuardian re-start functions (Start once and Start Always [ie. restart]). Since this only affects=20 >Windows 98 I think it's a low priority. AFAIK, no InterBase installation ever installed an autostart on Win 95 or=20 98. On NT it autostarts the IBGuardian service. I guess you could put = ibserver.exe or ibguard.exe into a Win95 or 98 startup folder (though I've=20 never bothered - I consider this a development platform, not a viable=20 remote server platform, given the security exposure). >[2] When I actually run IbGuard.exe on Windows 98 I get the message "The=20 >registry information is missing. I didn't have this problem on Win98 with the original=20 installation. Perhaps something *has* gone missing. I can't test it,=20 either, as I have my IB 6 on Linux and have uninstalled the Win version to=20 replace with a 5.6 install I needed for a customer. Interesting...did you try David Robinson's Firebird install?
