I've implemented this now (with one modification) and rebuilt the English docset. The one modification is the "Up" button. I wondered whether it wouldn't be better to leave that one dimmed if you're on the top of a document (book or article). That way it's clear that there are no higher levels within that document, and you can still use the link next to it (or the one in the grey bar) to go to the Firebird Documentation Index. OTOH, it may be easier and more intuitive if you can go all the way up to the FDI using the Up button. The link chain in the grey bar also suggests such a hierarchy. So I created a parameter (nav-up-to-docindex in manual/src/docs/xsl/html/param.xsl) to control this. For now I've built the English HTML tree with this parameter set to false(), because it differs from what we were used to, so you can all have a look and see what you think. If this turns out to be a bad idea, all we have to do is set the parameter to true() and rebuild the tree. Please comment. Cheers, Paul Vinkenoog |
