It was changed, by me, because without it all databases running on ANY Windows platform (including NT, 2000 and XP) are at the real risk of being turned into guacamole if the Forece Writes value is not set. It is one thing for Forced Writes to be turned OFF (deliberately) by a sysadmin working with a full grasp of the potential issues. It is entirely unacceptable for a database to default to a setting which is potentially dangerous. Sean |
