Hello. I would like to apologise for the mess that has been caused regarding the Mirror setup and the domains. I have had some rough times in my life, paired with a lot of traveling and new work and as such I duly neglected you and Fink. I would like to change this by concentrating all my free time on one task that has been hanging around for quite some time. I truly want the Fink Developer Network to become a reality and now that Cirdan is back and able to help me that should be a thing that has become possible. I have already addressed the issue and here is what we have come up with. 1.) It is a monetary issue. There are abound 200$ open with the lawyer and they want to see a retainer of another 2000$. 2.) The Bylaws need to be reviewed and agreed to. I have thought about ways how to tackle this and I realise that I might have shot past the goal in my prior attempts. That is why I would like to take it easy this time. If you agree, then I will take full responsibility for this, together with cirdan. To tackle issue 2.) I will re-read and overwork the Bylaws that I had sent a long time ago. I will try to explain in layman's terms what some of the more "legal" parts of the Bylaws mean and then we can display them to the public, maybe there are some knowledgeable people that will give us feedback. Issue number one I would like to tackle by creating public interest. That means I will keep a static section on fink.sf.net with a page that updates every day. I will try to explain what I have done for FDN every day, creating interest in our progress with the common fink community. I would like to do this, because we will have to ask the public to help us fund our way toward being a fully tax exempt not for profit organization. There are a number of issues that need to be tackled for this to happen. To ensure that we satisfy the IRS, we will need to record the Name and full address of those who send us a donation prior to becoming a tax exempt not for profit. This does pose some organizational pitfalls that we need to walk thought. First of all that data has to be kept securely and it has to be backed up on a daily basis. Next we will need to ensure that we keep a clean track record of who submitted what and when. This is important when we want to issue retroactive donation receipts which is a possibility once we are tax exempt. A long time ago I wrote a text on this precise subject. It is attached and it is probably what I would like to start out with on the new "blog" page that I will be creating. Please also note, that I will not ask, nor mention anything about asking for donations until cirdan and I have found a way to satisfy the IRS and all the other organizationals. I would also like to keep the communication noise to a low level, therefore I would like to do this: Let us create a common backlog of items that we would like to see achieved for FDN. THis can be a flat file or a web-site that is updated by all of us. Every two week I will take the highest prioritized items from this backlog and make sure that I I can deliver them in that cycle. Sometimes that means I will work on more, sometimes on less, depending how much time I have left over. That way we have a transparent process and everyone is aware of what is happening. Thank you -d |
