Hi Alex, Thank you! Does this mean I need to access the package using cvs instead of rsync? When I tried a fink selfupdate-cvs I get an error which I don't understand (copied below)... Also, I looked in some of the archives for this cvs error and you said in the past it was a nameserver/network error. When I tried the traceroute command, I get this: 230-43:~ eleanor$ traceroute sourceforge.net traceroute to sourceforge.net (216.34.181.60), 64 hops max, 52 byte packets 1 230-1 (xxx.xxx.xxx.x) 1.355 ms 0.690 ms 0.550 ms 2 * * * 3 * * * where I've xxx out my machine address. I also tried pinging: 230-43:~ eleanor$ ping fink.cvs.sourceforge.net ping: cannot resolve fink.cvs.sourceforge.net: Unknown host 230-43:~ eleanor$ ping sourceforge.net PING sourceforge.net (216.34.181.60): 56 data bytes Request timeout for icmp_seq 0 Request timeout for icmp_seq 1 -------------error on selfupdate-cvs---------- 230-43:rapid eleanor$ fink selfupdate-cvs Password: Please note: the simple command 'fink selfupdate' should be used for routine updating; you only need to use a command like 'fink selfupdate-cvs' or 'fink selfupdate --method=rsync' if you are changing your update method. The current selfupdate method is rsync. Do you wish to change this default method to cvs? [Y/n] y fink is setting your default update method to cvs Fink has the capability to run the CVS commands as a normal user. That has some advantages - it uses that user's CVS settings files and allows the package descriptions to be edited and updated without becoming root. Please specify the user login name that should be used: [eleanor] For Fink developers only: Enter your SourceForge login name to set up full CVS access. Other users, just press return to set up anonymous read-only access. [anonymous] Checking to see if we can use hard links to merge the existing tree. Please ignore errors on the next few lines. Now logging into the CVS server. When CVS asks you for a password, just press return (i.e. the password is empty). /usr/bin/su eleanor -c 'cvs -d:pserver:ano...@fi...:/cvsroot/fink login' Logging in to :pserver:ano...@fi...:2401/cvsroot/fink CVS password: Unknown host fink.cvs.sourceforge.net. ### execution of /usr/bin/su failed, exit code 1 Failed: Logging into the CVS server for anonymous read-only access failed.
