On my 10.6 machine, I get this: $ /sw/bin/gzip --version gzip 1.4 [...] $ /usr/bin/gzip --version gzip 1.3.12 [...] Likewise, our unzip is UnZip 6.00 of 20 April 2009, while the one shipped by OS X is UnZip 5.52 of 28 February 2005. Only bzip2 have identical version. However, there seems to be no need anymore to have them marked as essential packages. That would still save bootstrap time. Bye, Max |
