*lightbulb clicks on as previous discussions on xfree86 fall into place* Thanks Benjamin. I guess then I must report that Eric's fix from 30 Oct 2003 in the the "Why does fink download xfree864211 sources?" thread does not work for me. (everything worked for him once he removed system-xfree86 and related packages "as descriped in the faq for Users running Panther and Apple's X11 1.0." even though we're not running Panther and we're using XDarwin. ) Fink still insists that I need to install xfree86 and related to install abiword. Then again, maybe this will be fixed when I figure out how to get fink using the 10.2-gcc3.3 tree. But I'm already discussing that in a different thread. Thanks Benjamin and Eric for your help, if I'm still having problems after I get into the right tree, I'll revive the thread. -- mary On Friday, October 31, 2003, at 08:58 AM, Benjamin Reed wrote: > marykat wrote: > >> I tried this this afternoon and ran into a problem.
