Dear Fink experts I just got a Mac OS X computer, and as a unix (sgi) user, I found it really empty in terms of unix-like tools. I followed the instructions of the fink web site and selected a number of packages within sudo dselect (first, "base", and the next time some "graphics" and some "text". I want to have LateX and BibteX, as well as ghostview, latex2html, ... dselect didn't want me to choose tetex-base and would always select system-tetex instead. I forced it to take tetex-base (with the "Q" key) and then got some errors (see whole record below). Now, I don't know precisely what should work and what can't. I tried to run "gs", but it says " [localhost:~] delphine% gs Aladdin Ghostscript 6.01 (2000-03-17) Copyright (C) 2000 Aladdin Enterprises, Menlo Park, CA. All rights reserved. This software comes with NO WARRANTY: see the file PUBLIC for details. Aladdin Ghostscript 6.01: Cannot open X display `(null)'. **** Unable to open the initial device, quitting. " What should I do now?? I have to say, I'm totally confused. Thanks for any hint you can provide Delphine. Reading Package Lists... Done Building Dependency Tree...
