Well, I know ffdshow is getting bigger and bigger and I see it
as a problem - on the other side, I just like adding new
features and supported codecs :)

For matroska filter pack I created decoder-only libavcodec
and recently I made that file even smaller. However, I'll not
make special version of ffdshow.ax, encoder-only code isn't
so big that it would make much difference. I could try to
make installer package without dlls needed only for encoding
(x264, mpeg2enc) or not much useful (theora, wmv9) or
reduntant (libmad, unrar).

no! please, don't remove unrar! I't only 62kb !!!
I like ffdshow, especially since recently you've added support
for .vob subtitles and unrar, this way I need only one
program, it's so easy to tell a friend: "just install ffdshow"
instead of "install ffdshow, then dvobsub, then unrar.dll,
then..."
btw, a decoder only version would be well accepted :-)
