Hi, today I did a quick test with a few different FireWire controllers and two audio devices attached, to be aggregated by FFADO into a single audio device from jackd's POV. Here is the result: Work: Agere FW643 rev 07 Texas Instruments TSB43AB22(A) Texas Instruments TSB82AA2 Texas Instruments XIO2213(A) Do not work: JMicron JMB381 NEC OrangeLink VIA VT6306 The failure mode of these latter controllers is that jackd's startup is aborted with ffado logging that it could not align streams. I retried several times on each controller with consistent results. The NEC and VIA cards generally work for me with a /single/ audio device attached. The JMicron card not so much; at best it gives audio with glitches. Sometimes startup of jack/ffado on the four working controllers may fail too for other reasons; then the best approach seems to power-cycle the audio devices and try again. But once jackd runs, it works just as stable for me as with only a single audio device. Audio devices used in the test: Focusrite Saffire PRO 24 Terratec Phase X24FW Command line used in all tests: jackd -P66 -dfirewire -r96000 -p256 -n3 -v2 I also ran a few unsuccessful -r44100 attempts on the VIA card. Software versions: linux 2.6.38.2 libraw1394 2.0.7 libffado 2.999.0-1958 jackd 0.120.1 I don't think I am reporting something utterly surprising here but perhaps this information is useful to some. -- Stefan Richter -=====-==-== -=-- ==--= http://arcgraph.de/sr/ |
