Victor, To clarify: I started Jack and Ardour. Jack showed 26 channels (there is a bug currently where the midi ports show as audio). I then added 24 tracks to Ardour and patched them to channels in Jack. I then armed all tracks and recorded for 25 minutes with no xruns. (You can tell Ardour to mark where xruns occur). In the past I had to do a whole lot of tweeking in UbuntuStudio 9.04 to get to that point. That said though, once I had done that tweeking I regularly recorded 24 track stage productions that lasted 2 hours or more, with no xruns. I have not had the need recently, so I have not tried such things with 10.04 (I never do interim releases, so I'll not see 10.10 and 11.04 is on the horizon already.) I will be exploring AVLinux more thoroughly at this point as well.
