I have a new widget in the pipes, which should make it easier. But still the routing possibilities you have there are more then what the other os's driver suggest you. Which makes it easier to get stuck... > - Somehow, the ffado-mixer GUI doesn't match up with what I seem to > understand from the manual about the signal flow between inputs, > outputs, the mixer and the router. E.g. the device has 10 outputs (which are called "<FW-guid> > Mon/Line #" in ardour IIRC), but I only find destinations Analog00-07 in > the router. The fw- connection from the computer to the device is not hard-coupled to the inputs and outputs of the device as the names you see in jack suggest. In fact the fw-connections are just more inputs and outputs in the router which can be connected everywhere you want. The router in the dice-devices is quite versatile: You can route any incomcing signal to any output. For example you can use that to change your saffire pro40 into a "simple" adat/analog converter by routing the analog input to the adat outputs and vice versa. Which will then even work after you unplugged the device from the pc:-) Note that the mixer is also "just" a bunch of inputs and outputs for the router. So you can actually make the audio go from the analog inputs directly to the fw and back from fw directly to the outputs without any signal crossing the mixer. I can fix you up with some docs about the dice next week... Have fun, Arnold |
