I'm fairly confused now. I changed the permissions, and running jackd -d firewire in the terminal produced no problems, if we ignore the issue of no sound. But several hours later, the same command produces: arctos@arctos:~$ jackd -d firewire no message buffer overruns jackd 0.116.1 Copyright 2001-2005 Paul Davis and others. jackd comes with ABSOLUTELY NO WARRANTY This is free software, and you are welcome to redistribute it under certain conditions; see the file COPYING for details JACK compiled with System V SHM support. loading driver .. 00213119495: (ffado.cpp)[ 92] ffado_streaming_init: libffado 1.999.38- built Dec 30 2008 21:20:13 00213465027: Debug (bebob_mixer.cpp)[ 126] addElementForAllFunctionBlocks: Adding elements for functionblocks... libiec61883 warning: iec61883_cmp_create_p2p_output: Failed to set the oPCR[0] plug for node 1. libiec61883 warning: iec61883_cmp_create_p2p_input: Failed to set the iPCR[0] plug for node 1. firewire ERR: Could not start streaming threads: -1 DRIVER NT: could not start driver cannot start driver 00213708273: Debug (bebob_mixer.cpp)[ 81] ~Mixer: deleting Feature_Volume_1... 00213708287: Debug (bebob_mixer.cpp)[ 81] ~Mixer: deleting Feature_LRBalance_1... 00213708296: Debug (bebob_mixer.cpp)[ 81] ~Mixer: deleting Feature_Volume_2... 00213708304: Debug (bebob_mixer.cpp)[ 81] ~Mixer: deleting Feature_LRBalance_2... 00213708313: Debug (bebob_mixer.cpp)[ 81] ~Mixer: deleting Feature_Volume_3... 00213708323: Debug (bebob_mixer.cpp)[ 81] ~Mixer: deleting Feature_LRBalance_3... 00213708337: Debug (bebob_mixer.cpp)[ 81] ~Mixer: deleting Feature_Volume_4... 00213708345: Debug (bebob_mixer.cpp)[ 81] ~Mixer: deleting Feature_LRBalance_4... no message buffer overruns and I have no idea why. I note that I do not have the RT kernel functioning. When I attempt to install the RT package, the output is that the kernel cannot be loaded for the nvidia(170.80), so installation fails. My mobo has dual processors, and SMP isn't currently supported in the newest RT kernel, but I am constrained by hardware to keep the latest kernel version. In the BIOS, I have the HDMI enabled, and the default audio on the mobo disabled in order to always use the FP10. Subject: Re: [FFADO-user] [I'm a user and need support] Presonus FP10, UbuntuStudio, and error messages I overrode the previous jack installation because the FFADO documentation recommended an overwrite if FFADO was recompiled or installed after jack. Actually, trying to track down all my errors I've overwritten both jack and ffado a number of times. You are correct regarding the permissions- I had changed those per the documentation but obviously whatever I did was not comprehensive. Thank you! However, even running jackd as superuse doesn't produce sound in the speakers. I open jackd in the terminal, and I get no error messages, and the light on the FP10 is nice and blue, but attempting to play a CD or run a test sound is silent. But first things first- I'll get the permissions changed correctly.Thank you!!Hi,> I did go back and forth on the /usr/bin or usr/local, trying to figure> out what to do. :-pSo, why did you decide to override your previous jack installation :-P ?> The output of lsmod | grep raw1394 is:> raw1394 32348 0> ieee1394 96324 4 sbp2,dv1394,raw1394,ohci1394>> so it seems like everything is there. I'm not sure what occurred to suddenly> give me this error- it wasn't occuring previously (although others were).True, are your permissions right? Can you run it as superuser?Regards,Kostis------------------------------------------------------------------------------_______________________________________________FFADO-user mailing lis...@li...https://lists.sourceforge.net/lists/listinfo/ffado-user |
