#125 Transition/Conversion Tools

People who are moving an existing web site into
Exponent need tools to simplify the job. Bulk
transfer of images and documents, extraction of
content from existing pages, and redirection page
generation come to mind.

I have a directory of images already on the server
under oldsite/images that I will want to reference in
text modules. It's a real pain to re-upload them one
at a time to a resource module.

I also have a directory full of PDFs and Word Docs.
My best approach today is to administer them
manually, and build a page of absolute links. I would
like to bulk transfer them into another resource
module.

I have been using MS FrontPage up til now to build
the web site, and it's tedious to cut and paste the
content into Exponent. I have to go to HTML mode and
manually remove the <ul><font color=...> and
</font></ul> tags surrounding my hyperlinks, then
adjust the new links to point to the new sections.

Bulk conversion tools would reduce the effort
involved in creating a test system to evaluate
exponent and would speed its adoption.
