I can't see anything that would prevent it working, provided it is run under the Sun Java machine. Wolfgang seems to have provided all the necessary .bat files to deliver the same functionality as the shell scripts, and it's really only those batch files and shell scripts that are OS -specific. But I wouldn't expect it to work with the Microsoft Java VM (apart from anything else, the encoding support is inadequate). One further thing to check with 2K or XP is that the owner of the eXist server process has permission to write to the data store areas. Some Win2K machines have very odd permissions hierarchies.
