Wolfgang, Would it also be possible to do the same thing with memory consumption. In our experience, the two cases which cause un-recoverable errors/corruptions are ither running out of disk space, or running out of memory. I understand that its probably not efficient to do these checks before each operation, but perhaps a scheduled job could be run that would allow the users to configure "checks" that could result in either an email being sent to an administrator, or the database being put into read-only mode etc. Ideally we could prevent the system from ever getting close to the danger zone for these resources.
