Thanks for following up on this. I certainly understand the issues with maven as I'm trying to decide whether to use it (or at least leinigen) in my project. I know that there are free public repositories at: https://oss.sonatype.org But I can't say whether all the 3rd party libs keep their own maven repos up to date. I'd almost think that you'd want a dedicated team to keep track of all open source java projects and keep their maven repos updated - like debian's apt-get. I'm thinking of the dependency list here I did some additional checks...... I think it really makes no sense using maven for tracking dependencies at this moment. I checked for example xerces, we use revision 2.11 at this moment. The public repositories only provide old versions (the newest I could find is 2.9.1 ; that is 2+ years old right now), and e.g. for the jfreechart I can only find 1.0.0 or 1.0.9 ; very ancient versions (3+ years old) This actually means that we would need to maintain a whole maven repository, not only for our own jar files; creating such a repository is quite some work, maintaining it is much work as well. Probably we could use some help here, and sure, some work as already done in the past. One of the things we'd require is access to a good PUBLIC maven repository, where we are allowed to upload both the existdb artifacts and the 3rd party artifacts. But IMO we should NOT be responsible for maintaining the latter, the opensource projects should do that themselves..... regards Dannes -- eXist-db Native XML Database - http://exist-db.org Join us on linked-in: http://www.linkedin.com/groups?gid=35624 |
