Unfortunately (as most list members may not know) they have to be a little bit careful right now about how they use public facilities, having got into lot of trouble recently in the UK media for locking up a little old lady who refused to pay a local tax hike that was way above her statutory pension increase. But yes, flights into Exeter from various European (and some UK) airports are not only available, but very cheap. You have to know how to get them though, because most travel agents -- and indeed on-line flight booking portals -- claim not to know about them. It might also, depending on timing, be possible to some sort of accommodation deal with the University, though the dorms aren't central. Another plus point, if the "early in the year" timing is to be observed is that thanks to the Gulf Stream, Exeter is a better bet for being snow-free than most other venues at similar latitudes. And none of those wolves that I see from a separate thread are currently circling the Oxford University Computer Centre even in mid November. Michael Beddow |
