At least that makes the bug more reproducible! ;-) What platform are you running on such that 1.4.2_07 is not available? One thing you could try would be to locate by trial-and-error the revision that causes the bug frequency to increase, this might help Sun isolate the code responsible. > I am not keen on upgrading to JDK 1.5 until all the Java > packages that I use are guaranteed to run under 1.5. Understandable. But as long as we're on the topic, what other packages are you using? Anything that might execute native code, such as native database drivers, etc? If not, then you should probably report the crash to Sun, and hope for a new JVM release. In any case, while pure Java code (such as eXist) can coincidentally exercise a bug in the native code (e.g. JVM), it's not responsible for it so I'm afraid there's not much we can do to help you. You could try running the JVM in different modes (client vs. server), since the JIT code paths are somewhat different and might avoid the bug. You could even try other brands of JVMs, if any are available on your platform. Other than that, perhaps Wolfgang will have other ideas... -- P. -- Piotr Kaminski (pi...@id...)
