well, I spoke a little too soon. I'm getting exceptions when I try this for $dummy in 'hello' return {xs:dateTime("2005-05-01T13:15:00") - fn:current-dateTime()} The error I get when running through eXist's web interface: XMLDBException occurred: in call to function f:main() [219, 11]: in call to function f:eval(xs:string) [196, 12]: error found while executing eval expression: unexpected token: { [at line 3, column 3] ... The error I get when running through cocoon as xmlrpc: org.exist.EXistException: null java.lang.NullPointerException at org.exist.xquery.EnclosedExpr.eval(EnclosedExpr.java:64) at org.exist.xquery.PathExpr.eval(PathExpr.java:130) at org.exist.xquery.ElementConstructor.eval(ElementConstructor.java:156) at org.exist.xquery.AbstractExpression.eval(AbstractExpression.java:45) at ...
