Hi David,

I uploaded your test case and queried the db with the following query :

xquery version "1.0";
<page>
{
 for $s in //summary return
  $s
}
</page>

This is the result :

<page xmlns="">
 <summary xmlns="">
  <text xmlns="">This is a diameter sign ⌀ [?]and this is a latin small
letter o with stroke ø [�].</text>
 </summary>
</page>

I'm running on W2K, and my web.xml file has UTF8 as the encoding.
