you can't specify the character encoding in the script (the XQuery spec. 
doesn't say anything about input encodings or have I missed something?), so 
it basically depends on how you pass your query to the database: the Java 
client reads the query from a FileReader, so the encoding depends on your OS 
settings; the XQueryGenerator always assumes UTF-8 (should be configurable); 
the XQueryServlet takes the encoding from a parameter.
