You may have already tried this, but here is what works for me: 1) Edit the file /usr/local/etc/emu10k1.conf and change ENABLE_TONE_CONTROL=no to read ENABLE_TONE_CONTROL=yes to enable Bass and Treble controls for any OSS mixer (i.e. this assumes you use OSS versus ALASA drivers for your sound card) While you're in there, you may also want to change ANALOG_FRONT_BOOST=no to read ANALOG_FRONT_BOOST=yes This adds a 10db boost to the front analog channels (again only if you use OSS drivers) 2) Change the sound driver section of your /etc/modules.conf file to read: # This loads the emu10k1 OSS driver alias sound-slot-0 emu10k1 # These save and restore your mixer settings post-install emu10k1 /usr/local/etc/audigy-script restore pre-remove emu10k1 /usr/local/etc/audigy-script save The 'post-install' and 'pre-remove' lines automatically save and restore your mixer settings (volume, bass treble, etc.) when the sound driver is loaded and unloaded.
