[Emc-developers] Updating a few things here

Well, I finally did it!  I yanked the ancient 100 MHz Pentium classic
computer out of my Bridgeport control cabinet and put in the 600 MHz
Pentium 3 with 256 MB of memory and EMC2.  It took a while to get
the feel of tuning that system with its velocity servo amps, the P term
is set a LOT lower than with my PWM sorta-torque mode amps.
I finally got a decent tuning solution and get under .001" error at
50 IPM.  I can live with that, it is a lot better than the old EMC with
STG board.

I still have a bit of work to integrate the home and limit switches,
but I mocked up the home switch and tried to search for index.
Maybe I have to have the home switch shut off before it will sense
the index, I'll try that tomorrow.

I put in an ancient VGA card in place of the mobo video, and I saw no
real time overruns in 8 hours working with EMC2.  So, it sure looks like
the mobo VGA that is used in Dell i810 systems is the culprit.  Probably
the VGA doing some kind of bit-blt operation and slowing down CPU
memory access.

So, all of you guys who had been bugging me to upgrade that Dec-20-1999
version of EMC can now relax.  It was only used for SEVEN years!
