Richard, sure it can. All you need is to provide some level shifting (BBB is 3,3V, gecko takes 5V iirc) and connect them. Or you can use an existing cape: BeBoPr, Replicape, etc Or you can wait a bit on a parport cape I'm currently working on.. (schematic mostly done, layout in the works..)
