When I say gateway I mean the private Ip gateway. .99 is the current router which is also forwarding port 25 perfectly. The efw box is .99 which doesn't forward port 25. On my machine if I set my gateway to .98 I can pull up the test webpage, and telnet the mail server via public hostname. However even still I can't access the test web page via my home machine, blackberry or any other device. So thinking about NAT I think that's the issue. I set my work machine gateway to .98 and set up a simple IIS test page on an off port. Forwarded that port and was able to access it from outside the network. Patricio's initial response was correct. So that said, if I change my mailservers IP setting to have both gateways listed, will port forwarding from either router still work? I'll go ahead and test it on my machine and see, but it's an interesting learning experience. Can't wait to get my new stuff so I have a dmz... -----Original Message----- From: efw...@li... So, you have two routers, (one is the efw) but the other one doesn't work. You realize that each ISP would have their own dns servers, so only changing the gateway IP might not be enough unless you're using a common dns service that's not associated with either ISP. But even then, when changing connections, remember to flush your workstation's dns cache. If you use windows, you can click the Repair button in the connection properties. Or do it from dos. This flushes everything nicely. I know there are no port forwarding issues with 2.1.2, but I haven't tried the newer betas. You mentioned telnet. From outside your office, can you telnet on port 25 to your IP address and get a response from your mail server? I'm assuming your ISP doesn't block 25. I recently switched from Comcast cable to Qwest DSL because Comcast decided to close port 25... -----Original Message----- From: efw...@li... [mailto:efw...@li...] On Behalf Of tec...@dr... Two different ISP's and addresses. I see Patricio's response and that does seem to be the issue. If I set the IP settings to use both gateways will that work? What I'm trying to do is get my router and endian to forward SMTP traffic to an email server. I realize I should be using a DMZ for this sort of thing, and that's part of the plan when we use endian. But for now we're still in the growing pains phase. -patrick ------------------------------------------------------------------------- Check out the new SourceForge.net Marketplace.
