John, I wasn't able to reproduce your problem on my stock RH 7.2
system.  Red Hat would be the best place to get support for their stock
drivers.  However, if you are feeling adventurous, you can try
downloading the latest DRI drivers for the Radeon directly from the DRI
project.

You can find the current BETA quality driver suite (based on the CVS
trunk) on downloads page of the DRI project:

You can also find an ALPHA quality TCL driver suite (based on the
tcl-0-0-branch) on the Tungsten Graphics ftp site:
