I've have a redhat-6.0/glibc-2.1/3dfx-voodoo3 2000 system almost working. I'm trying to follow the documentation very closely at: http://www.xfree86.org/4.0/DRI.html I'll include my step by step details and suggestions, numbers are from the DRI doc: #4 Prerequisite Software > Linux kernel 2.2.x (later kernels will be supported in the near future, and > may be required for some chipsets) This seems incorrect. Question 5 states you must load a DRI module which I believe is linux-2.3 dependent. #5 load module, check: [drm] Initialized tdfx 0.0.1 19991009 on minor 63 #5.2 XF86Config file, I grabbed it from http://dri.sourceforge.net/resources/XF86Config.voodoo3 #6.4 took me some searching to find glxinfo (might want to put a url in the DRI doc, I found glxinfo at: http://dri.sourceforge.net/resources/glxinfo Result: OpenGL vendor string: Precision Insight, Inc. OpenGL renderer string: Mesa GLX Indirect OpenGL version string: 1.2 Mesa 3.3 beta Sounds like software acceleration to me. I found http://sourceforge.net/bugs/?func=detailbug&bug_id=102441&group_id=387 Which says no kernels later then 2.3.45 will work. So I'm running 2.3.44. I'll attach my /var/log/XF* file for further perusal. Seems like I've done everything in the docs but I still get: (==) TDFX(0): Write-combining range (0xe8000000,0x2000000) (II) TDFX(0): Textures Memory 7.93 MB (II) TDFX(0): Using XFree86 Acceleration Architecture (XAA) Screen to screen bit blits Solid filled rectangles 8x8 mono pattern filled rectangles Indirect CPU to Screen color expansion Solid Lines Dashed Lines Offscreen Pixmaps Driver provided NonTEGlyphRenderer replacement Setting up tile and stipple cache: 10 128x128 slots (==) TDFX(0): Backing store disabled (==) TDFX(0): Silken mouse enabled (II) TDFX(0): direct rendering disabled ===============================^^^^^^^^ Any help, suggestions, requests for additional info requested and appreciated, thanks. Just in case I'll include my XFree86.voodoo3 file but it's almost identical to the one mentioned above (except for emulate3button) -- Bill |
