I built and installed the "radeon-20051110" snapshot on my Debian system without errors. The X server managed to stay up even after a reboot. But for some reason direct rendering still doesn't work. Looking at the Xorg log, I saw a suspicious line about a "version mismatch." Am I right to suspect this is an issue between the Linux and Xorg layers of DRI? What parts (Linux or X) of my system should I reinstall or upgrade to remove this conflict? Here are some relevant details: Video Controller: ATI RV280 [Radeon 9200 PRO] (rev 01) X Window System Version: 6.8.2 (Debian 6.8.2.dfsg.1-10) Linux Version: 2.6.14.1 PREEMPT (gcc version 4.0.3 20051023) The "offending" section from Xorg.0.log (if necessary I can attach a bzip of the entire log): # ---BEGIN LOG EXTRACT--- (EE) RADEON(0): [dri] RADEONDRIScreenInit failed because of a version misma= tch.
