Sorry about that. Apparently my little brain must have confused the order of: 1. make install 2. exec XFree86 I finally got set to try to run X remotely via gdb, and much to my surprise it came all the way up - ran back down to my box and there it was, that beautiful grey stipple. 1280x960 is back, albeit in indirect rendering mode. BTW why is that? I seemed to get acceleration in the old driver at 1280x960x32. A quick calculation indicates that should take a shade under 5 MB, right? I thought you only needed a buffer equal to the size of the screen (another 5 MB) for rendering, and then you'd have about 6 MB left for textures or so, no? Excuse me for being a 3d dunce, I'm only a user. :) as for the hard locks, I have no idea how to go about debugging them... I suppose there must be some log file you can get the driver to write to, no? -- Don't make Godzilla mad! |
