After some playing around with things, I have some additional information. The corruption happens only on 2D updates, I can have 3D apps running without any corruption, it is purely 2D updates. It happens on Voodoo3 and VSA-100 chips, on various kernels, but only when there is a nice 'Load "dri"' line in the XF86Config-4. There are three modes of this apparent. 1: Font corruption, starts at the first of the font table, and progressively moves down it. 2: Writing garbage to the console, a set of a few chars, with blinking bits, color, etc, is console specific, and remains when changing to another console, then changing back. 3: Server crash, every few hours (time seems to widely vary) the X server will crash, I have only personally seen this while not looking at X, others have reported it while using X. It should be noted that the font corruption is fixed (until it is corrupted again) by switching to the console X is on, then switching back out. This happens on 2.2 kernels, and 2.4 kernels. I'm willing to poke at the code if someone can give me some advice on where to poke, I can test pretty quickly aside from the compile time. Zephaniah E. Hull.
