If you need any more information > or want me to try something more I'll be glad to. Your log got truncated, either by the crash or by sending it via mail. The interesting (DRI) part is missing. However, the cut occurs while initializing a module called theatre. I've checked, this is not in the XFree86 4.2 distribution, it's a Gatos extension. However, Gatos is known to be incompatible with the DRI project. You could try to remove any unused modules from the "Module" section in XF86Config. The only things you really need (for a safe bet) are "dri" and "glx". If this works you can start adding modules again. Otherwise the only safe way for you to use DRI snapshots may be to install a clean Xserver from XFree86 and update that one with dri snapshots.
