See http://dri.sourceforge.net/doc/DRIcompile.html for more info. Anyway, the X shouldn't fail. First, could you be more precise with the failure? Does the system hangs, or is it just X (so you should be able to connect trhu the network), or something else? See if there is any message in /var/log/messages. Second, it could be some incompatibility with your system XFree86. To eliminiate that option, and since you already gave your self the trouble to download and compile the mach64-0-0-4-branch, please install and run the XFree86 server. For doing that follow the rest of the instructions. Note that it installs to a seperate directory /usr/X11R6-DRI/ so you must start the server /usr/X11R6-DRI/bin/XFree86 and not your system's. The easiest way is to do ln -sf /usr/X11R6-DRI/bin/XFree86 /usr/X11R6/bin/X startx The /var/log/XFree86.0.log should say "mach64 branch" on the first lines. When you want to revert to the previous X server do ln -sf /usr/X11R6/bin/XFree86 /usr/X11R6/bin/X José Fonseca |
