Wei Once DPCL is installed, any user on the system should be able to use it. There is no need to install more than once per system. What error is the second user getting? An obvious problem is that each user must have a .rhosts file in their home directory on the node where they want to connect to a target application (hello) specifying the node they are connecting from (eut_hello). If rlogin, rsh or similar commands work between two nodes, then this is likely not the problem. Do you have the same copy of DPCL installed on both systems? In particular, you had made a change to DPCL as follows convert the host address to a useful (character) format. sprintf(this->ip_addr, "0.0.0.0", he->h_addr_list[0][0], he->h_addr_list[0][1], he->h_addr_list[0][2], he->h_addr_list[0][3]); change it to this: // convert the host address to a useful (character) format. sprintf(this->ip_addr, "0.0.0.0", he->h_addr_list[0][0] & 0xFF, he->h_addr_list[0][1] & 0xFF, he->h_addr_list[0][2] & 0xFF, he->h_addr_list[0][3] & 0xFF); Is this code the same on both systems? If not, can you try with it on both systems? I have not had the time to look at the change in detail, and am not convinced the change is required. But without any other information, it might be worth a try if it's not too much trouble. Is there any sort of software (firewall or routing software for instance) that could make communicating between the machines fail? Can you ping from one machine to the other, and also rlogin from one to the other (both ways) without problems? Unfortunately, the log files did not get attached to the email. Can you send the logs again? Also, I suggest you ail to dpc...@os... (our dpcl mailing list) since if I am out of the office or busy for some reason, other developers can see the email. If you are not comfortable with doing that, of course you can email me directly, Dave Wei Wang <ww_yhmail@yahoo. To: Dave Wootton/Poughkeepsie/IBM@IBMUS com> cc: Subject: user problem 07/16/02 06:04 AM Hi Dave: I am sorry for send you a empty just before. My question is when I installed dpcl rpm package, I can run hello and eut_hello. but another user can't run it. Do every user need to install and build dpcl respectively? Whether they can share the same rpm package? How to do it? Another question, I try to connect hello between pact06 and pact07, but it didn't succeed. when I try to connect hello runing on pact07 from pact06, the eut_hello blocked, then I use Ctrl+C to terminate it. Then I try to connect hello running on pact07 from pact07,the error message is: Connecting to process 12360 on node pact06 client: server 'pact06' terminated, removing socket 4. bconnect error ASC_communication_failure. By the way, I can run eut_hello to connect hello on both local machine. I attach to log file of the running result. dpclsd.27625 is on pact07 and dpclsd.12314 is on pact06. Would you please give me some advice? regards -Wei __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Yahoo! Autos - Get free new car price quotes http://autos.yahoo.com |
