#344 Sam&Max CD hangs when using MIDI

System: Linux/amd64 (Debian/unstable)
g++ (Debian 4.4.3-1) 4.4.3
Tried with both trunk r3541 and 0.73 release from the debian packages.

When I select either General MIDI or Roland in the sound setup program and then try to play the sample music, the program just hangs and does not react to any input anymore (nor do I hear any sound output, my MIDI setup works fine with other DOS games in DOSBox though).

The game also does not start up, but only hangs with a black screen on start up. No signs of any MIDI data transfer either.
