In both v0.65 and the latest CVS dump from http://www.aep-emu.de/cvscompile/dosbox.htm, the CON device is not handled properly:

[begin rough transcription]
C:
COPY CON FOO.BAT
File not found
[end rough transcription]

Note the double space between the words "File" and "not"; this may be a problem with the builtins instead.

copying from/to devices is not supported,
install freedos or something

Huh? Install FreeDOS to quickly create a text file in a minimal emulator? It's a standard, documented DOS function that has been relied on for ages in times of emergency (and lazyness, for that matter). Why not implement it?

Feel free to implement it.
DOSBox targets at games, and i'm sure your
host OS has text file utilities.
