DocBook is my way of digitizing interesting but hardly
accessible old scientific papers (regional history), so I
am able to enable them to the public. Although
DocBook's possibilities in this field are limited (intended
for another use) I've found it very helpful and useful. But
one feature is still missing to me. None of old books
uses special numbering for table footnotes - they are
included in main flow. I've tried customisation of styles,
but it is quite complex and my modifications weren't
working properly in every circumstance (table footnotes
only/combination of both types of footnotes/std.
footnote ...). I would very grateful if someone could
improve styles (html/fo) in way described above. As
compensation I offer careful testing.

I agree that there ought to be an option for listing
table footnotes along with normal footnotes. Unless
somebody else from the project decides to pick this up
and work on it, I will take a shot myself at
implementing it for the next release.
