Release 0.15.1 of the Disk File Monitor is available for download at http://sourceforge.net/projects/diskfilemon/files/ This is a maintenance release of the Disk File Monitor. It rolls up the latest bug fixes and enhancements. Significant bug fixes: * Install the dfm-ctrl script. * Fix the hashing algorithm for the dfs hash. * Rework the namehash code to use open hashing instead of closed hashing. Closed hashing runs the risk of running out of slots if a lot of files (greater than 64K) are being hit. * Fix error messages. Enhancements: * Add the ability to build on kernels before 2.6.15. * dfm-ctrl script enhancements - For the "layout", "exclude" and "verbose" commands display the current value after it has been set, unless the quiet option is set. - Display the name of the verbose level along with its numerical value. - Add some safety checking to dfm-ctrl to make sure that dfm is loaded before trying to execute commands. * Performance improvements - Use finer grained locks, for example, one lock per hash table entry instead of one lock for the whole hash table. - Save dentry pointers for the debugfs directories we create so that we don't have to walk the parent directory's list of subdirs to find the directory later. - Convert the spinlocks for the dri hash to rwlocks. - Better handling of strings by using string lengths. For example, comparing two strings is faster if their lengths are compared first. |
