I think I could upgrade fairly easily to gtk 2 as soon as it made it's way to debian testing, although I suspect that will be a long time from now going on past things. The resource hungryness is obviously a big issue tho, although I heard some rumblings that people found gtk2 wasn't that bad but none of these people were working with low end machines. I think it would be kind of crazy for the next release of dillo to be gtk 2.0 for a much more practical reason tho. It seems like there is a lot of great code and patches around based on the current code base and it would seem like it would be more sensible to apply all this code to the current codebase and get a new version out fairly quickly than to delay things for gtk2. This would also give a lot longer for gtk 2 to find it's way out there and for people to be able to see how it goes and learn from that. I assume that nobody is suggesting gtk2 for the next version anyway tho. Quite curious about it and still kind of mystified as to what the whole gtk 2 thing is all about! :) love Freya |
