hi again jim,

i've changed SwingPage to extends from Panel instead of JPanel and guess 
what?

the printing quality increased from dot matrix-like to laser quality, 
this solved too the exception generated when tryig to print using java 
1.4, i've followed the suggestions made by aditya gilra and got the most 
recent 1.4 version, but kept geting the same exception, but now with the 
aforementioned chand it's gone.

now, the only trouble we have is with the margins :(
