What do you mean CC 2.0 doesn't support Ant 1.5? I believe lots of people are using Ant 1.5 w/CC 2.0 and we just moved to it here in the last week or two. I like the idea of an option to run Ant w/the listener instead of the logger interface (adding a userListener attribute perhaps) but I haven't seen that patch come up the devel mailing list. Subject: RE: [Cruisecontrol-user] Odd behavior with CC 2.0 and Ant 1.5 output Keith Do you know if there any plan to roll this change into CC2.0 and to officially support Ant 1.5 instead of Ant 1.4? I have to use Ant 1.5, and the fact that CC 2.0 doesn't support it is preventing me from using CC 2.0. Subject: RE: [Cruisecontrol-user] Odd behavior with CC 2.0 and Ant 1.5 output I don't know if you have found your answers yet, but I have stumbled onto something that explains the issue. While running with log4j.properties set to DEBUG, I was able to see the command line that actually executes the Ant build scripts. From there, I went to the source code for AntBuilder.java and discovered the following: It seems that in CC2, they put a check in to see if the XmlLogger class from Ant can be found and used as the BuildLogger interface from Ant. If it does, it uses the -logger option to log Ant output directly to the assigned log file. If not, it uses the -listener option to log Ant output to the console. The XmlLogger class will then 'listen' to the output and write it to the assigned log file. Until Ant 1.5, the XmlLogger did not fully implement the BuildLogger interface, so when using previous Ant versions with CC2, it would use the -listener option, but with 1.5 it uses the -logger option. Thus, we don't see console output with the combo of CC2 and Ant 1.5. The comments in the source code says using the -logger option is a bit cleaner than the -listener option regarding output to the log.xml file. I have actually modified the isLoggerSupported() method in the AntBuilder source to always return false, which forces it into 'listener' mode, thus producing console output. It would really be nice if they could include a tag attribute for AntBuilder that would allow for console output (-listener option) regardless of the existing logic in the isLoggerSupported() method. I am considering submitting such an enhancement myself. Hope this helps. Keith Levy -----Original Message----- From: cru...@li... Subject: RE: [Cruisecontrol-user] Odd behavior with CC 2.0 and Ant 1.5 output Importance: High Is anyone using CC 2.0 with Ant 1.5 and receiving console output? Since we have upgraded to CC 2.0 we have been in the dark as to the state of the build process. We used to be able to pipe the output from CC to a log file and then just tail the file to see where the build process was. Now our output is simply: . [cc] No modifications found, build not necessary. [cc] Sleeping for 1 minutes error: /usr2/cruise-control/depot/dev/main/p4targets.xml - file(s) up-to-date. exit: 0 [cc] No modifications found, build not necessary. Subject: [Cruisecontrol-user] Odd behavior with CC 2.0 and Ant 1.5 output Hi all, I noticed a while back someone posted a message asking about Ant's output not being seen when running inside CruiseControl 2.0. I had no problem seeing Ant's output using CC 1.2.1.a and Ant 1.5 however since I've switched to CC 2.0 I no longer see Ant's output when I use ant.jar and optional.jar from Ant 1.5? I'm using all the standard jars that come with CC 2.0 except for ant.jar and optional.jar. Any help would be greatly appreciated. _________________________________________________________________ MSN Photos is the easiest way to share and print your photos: http://photos.msn.com/support/worldwide.aspx ------------------------------------------------------- This sf.net email is sponsored by:ThinkGeek Welcome to geek heaven. http://thinkgeek.com/sf _______________________________________________ Cruisecontrol-user mailing list Cru...@li... https://lists.sourceforge.net/lists/listinfo/cruisecontrol-user ------------------------------------------------------- This sf.net email is sponsored by:ThinkGeek Welcome to geek heaven. http://thinkgeek.com/sf _______________________________________________ Cruisecontrol-user mailing list Cru...@li... https://lists.sourceforge.net/lists/listinfo/cruisecontrol-user ------------------------------------------------------- This sf.net email is sponsored by: Access Your PC Securely with GoToMyPC.
